LENTON® MASON LOCK TAPER-THREADED SPLICE MAKES MASONRY CONSTRUCTION EASIER
Oct 01, 2013 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SOLON, Ohio –The American Concrete Institute’s (ACI®) Concrete and Masonry building code requires longer lap lengths in masonry construction. This means more congestion in the masonry cells and more difficulty in construction. To alleviate this problem, builders can either use open-cell blocks, which are quite expensive, or use mechanical rebar couplers to eliminate the lap splice.
The LENTON® taper-threaded splice – one of the most widely used mechanical splicing systems in the world today – quickly and easily connects two pieces of rebar. This cost-effective connector uses the time-tested, field-proven taper thread for assurance of strength, consistency and reliability while simplifying installation.
LENTON splices are designed for use on worldwide standard grades of rebar and meet ACI® 318, IBCÒ Type 1 and Type 2 (seismic), and ACI 530 full-tension and compression splice requirements. No “special,” high-strength, enlarged thread section or increased rebar size is necessary, allowing the supply of rebar from multiple sources for maximum cost savings.
LENTON® MASON LOCK taper-threaded splices:
- Eliminate lap splices in CMU block walls
- Accelerate construction schedules; they are one of the fastest systems to install
- Help ensure easy installation with the problem-solving taper-thread design
- Are excellent for future extension applications
- Add structural integrity
- Are available in sizes #3 - #18 (10 mm - 57 mm)
- Conform to ACI code
