Thursday, January 23 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM | Room N235, North Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center « Back

NEW FOR 2014  Although troweled lightweight concrete has been successfully used in suspended floor slabs for several decades, many problems with delaminations have occurred in recent years.  Numerous projects have had major schedule and financial difficulties due to these problems.  Reasons for the increase in problems will be given, as well as ways to minimize future problems.  A roundtable discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation, with the presenters and experts in various lightweight concrete disciplines interacting with the audience.

  1. Identify the reasons for the increase in floor surface delaminations in recent years
  2. Optimize the light-weight concrete mix design to help the finisher minimize problems but still meet specs
  3. Describe what each team member can do to help the others achieve success and avoid problems
  4. Utilize appropriate finishing tools, equipment, techniques & timing to minimize problems
