TURSS - Train-the-Trainer: Rigging and Signaling

Tuesday, January 21 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM | Room N254, North Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center « Back

In this 4-hour trainer workshop, employers’ attendees will receive a complete in-house qualification program and training on how to implement. Participants will become authorized as in-house instructors to teach rules/regulations on how to properly select, inspect and use basic rigging as well as signaling/spotting for overhead hoisting. Signaling, spotting and recognizing the hazards of working around cranes are also included in this program. This program will assist employers in complying with the new Federal Crane rule requiring qualified riggers and signalpersons on the jobsite.

URGENT NOTICE: As per the new federal construction crane rule which went into effect November of 2010, (29CFR1926.1425, 1428, 1430) employers must ensure that the following employees are qualified persons and they have been trained, tested and evaluated to perform the tasks involved. (Proof of training or qualification must be available to OSHA upon request.)

  1. All workers on a construction site are trained on the hazards of working around cranes and the new rules for energized power line clearances
  2. Only “qualified riggers” will detach, attach or rig loads for cranes
  3. Only “qualified signalpersons and spotters” will provide signals for crane operations or spot for crane clearances

Participants will receive the Trainer’s Kit (valued at $695) which contains Trainer’s Manual, PowerPoint slides and script, practice quizzes with grading keys, practical evaluation forms, riggers pocket handbook and ten 110-page workbooks with pocket reference cards.
