This seminar is the first in a four-part series introducing basic concrete technology. This seminar concentrates on concrete mixture proportions, the materials used in concrete, and the properties of fresh concrete. Problems that can develop with fresh concrete and common corrections will also be discussed. NOTE: This series is intended to introduce the basics of good concrete practice to individuals who are new to the concrete industry.
1. Identify the format and information contained in concrete mixture proportions
2. Discuss the materials used in concrete and the role of each
3. Determine the most commonly measured fresh concrete properties and how each is tested
4. Explore the common problems associated with fresh concrete properties and the appropriate corrective measures
